1. Canon EOS Rebel SL2 – Best Canon Camera Overall

Canon EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm STM Lens - WiFi Enabled EOS Rebel SL2 from Canon is a mid-budget camera that comes with a 24.2 MP APS C sensor.

The best part about the camera is that it comes with Dual Pixel CMOS AF which is usually integrated into Canon’s high-end cameras.

The camera don’t come with much AF points. And its acceptable considering the overall price.

Specifications
  • 9 Points AF system.
  • 1080P video recording at 60fps.
  • 24.2 MP Sensor.
  • Lightweight at around 1lb.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC integrated.

Our In-Depth Review:

Look, if you have been hearing good things about Dual Pixel AF. and want it in an affordable DSLR camera, then Rebel SL2 would be your best bet. Period!

Starting off with the body of the camera, it is considerably small as compared to other DSLRs in the market, the same as the Rebel T7i. And its considerably lightweight too. Weighing at just around 1lb (453 grams), the Rebel SL2 is also perfectly suitable for vlogging. Its not as light as a point and shoot camera, but its not too heavy either.

The design of the camera is like any other Canon camera. Standard design with standard control buttons, a 3-inch touchscreen vary angle LCD, oh and the camera also has flash on top. The build quality is all plastic with some leather covering. The leather covering along with the compact design makes handling even better.

For image processing, the Rebel SL2 uses Digic image 7 processor which is one of the latest processors from Canon. Its extremely fast and process content in no time.

Talking about the sensor, you get a 24.2 MP CMOS APS C sensor with the Rebel SL2. Now the main difference between a Full frame sensor and APS C sensor is the aspect ratio, APS C takes a little cropped pictures as compared to Full-frame but there is no difference in the quality.

There is a myth that Full-frame sensors are better than the APS C sensor. It actually depends on the need of the user. Most of the DSLR and Mirrorless cameras have now started coming with the APS C sensor in them. Read more about APS C Sensors

This sensor in Rebel Sl2 helps in capturing FHD 1080P videos at 60 fps. The videos and pictures taken are sharp and come with dynamic colors. Combining it with the AF system that comes along, every shot becomes a treat to look at.

Talking about the AF system in Rebel Sl2, the camera has 9 point AF system for recording videos and taking stills with great autofocus. Along with that the camera also has dual pixel autofocus that is insanely fast when recording moving objects. You can simply put the DPAF at work by touching on the display, and object tracking from there would be done automatically.

For wireless sharing, the camera comes equipped with all the technology. It has Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth that would work with most of the ios, android, mac, and Windows devices. The camera also supports the Canon connect app.

Pros

  • Stunning picture and video quality.
  • Dual Pixel AF at a good price point.
  • External microphone input.
  • Seamless wireless sharing.

Cons

  • 9 AF point are quite less.

Conclusion:

As said earlier, if you want Canon’s Dual Pixel AF at alow price point then go for rebel SL2. Other than that camera is also well capable of recording 1080P videos with excellent dynamic color production. The other thing that would be loved by many would be the form factor and overall weight of the camera.

2. Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II – Used by Top Vloggers

Canon PowerShot Digital Camera [G7 X Mark II] with Wi-Fi & NFC, LCD Screen, and 1-inch Sensor - Black Powershot G7X Mark II is one of the finest cameras ever produced by Canon.

And that’s the reason why it is currently being used by some of the top vloggers on youtube.

It is a point and shoot camera that comes with a 1 inch 20.1 MP sensor which helps you in taking excellent shots.

Although the price of the camera is not the cheapest, still looking at its form factor and the powerful feature it carries, it looks like a pretty sweet deal.

Specifications
  • 20.1 MP CMOS sensor.
  • It comes with WiFi and NFC.
  • 8 fps in burst mode.
  • 3.0 inch articulating LCD screen.
  • Digic 7 image processor.

Our In-Depth Review:

This is not the first time that G7X Mark II has been featured on our list. It has already got into our list of Best cameras for youtube and Best vlogging cameras.

Apart from the G7X Mark II, canon also has G9X Mark II which is an excellent camera but has few differences as compared to G7X. G9X comes with 3X optical zoom, while the G7X comes with 4.2X optical zoom. G9X also doesn’t have an articulating touch LCD, while the G7X has that. But G9X is also quite cheaper as compared to G7X.

The camera features one of the latest canon processor, Digic 7. Now we already have Digic 8 in the market which offers a significant improvement over Digic 7, but Digic 7 is good too. It offers faster image processing and helps you capture up to 8 frames per second in burst mode.

Talking about the design and build quality of this camera, since its a point and shoot camera its very compact. You can easily hold it one hand and operate it. This is the actual main reason why the PowerShot G7X is so popular among the vloggers.

Its compactness makes it easy to hold in one hand and record vlogs. And since it comes with 180 degrees rotatable 3.0-inc LCD display, you can always monitor your vlogs in real-time.

The camera is mainly built of sturdy plastic with leather covering on few parts which give it an ergonomic grip. This makes sure that the camera doesn’t easily slip out of your hands.

Talking about the technical functionalities, the G7X Mark II comes equipped with a 1-inch 20.1 MP CMOS Sensor with a wide range shooting capability. With it, you can shoot up to 1080P HD videos at 60 frames per second, unfortunately, the camera is not capable of recording 4K videos.

For focus, the camera comes with TTL autofocus and manual focus. The manual focus could be set by just touching on the LCD, automatic focus, on the other hand, is quite accurate in most of the case, but sometimes is not fast enough in low-lighting conditions.

Personally, our most favorite thing about this camera is its capability to shoot up to 8 frames per second at continuous shooting. Now, this could be very helpful for those who are looking to record some fast action sports with the camera.

Sharing content with this camera is a very easy experience. The camera comes with Wi-Fi and NFC for seamless pairing and transferring of data wirelessly. So now you won’t have to plug in your camera via USB to your PC/laptop to transfer your videos or images.

Pros

  • 1080p videos at 60 frames per second.
  • Option to use setup manual focus.
  • Ergonomic design.
  • 4.2x optical zoom.
• Easy wireless sharing options.

Cons

  • None.

Conclusion:

This is a masterpeice from Canon. If you are looking to get a camera for personal use, look no further. ITf you are professional looking for a compact camera to create high-quality vlogs, look no further. If you are someone who is looking for a camera to record high-action shots, look no further.

3. Canon EOS REBEL T7i – Lightweight DSLR

Canon EOS REBEL T7i EF-S 18-55 IS STM Kit Canon EOS Rebel T7i is an upgrade to rebel T6 from canon, which is, by the way, a very popular and affordable camera from canon.

Rebel T7i, on the other hand, is an expensive one, although it boasts some really major upgrades.

The best thing about this camera is the 45 points all cross-type autofocus system which is highly accurate and produces some amazing autofocus shots.

Specifications
  • 24.2 MP CMOS Sensor.
  • 45 points all cross-type AF.
  • 6fps shooting in burst mode.
  • Built-in Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi.
  • 3 inch articulating LCD.

Our In-Depth Review:

If you have ever used any DSLR in the past, you will immediately notice the size difference here.

Canon Rebel T7i as compared to most of the DSLRs in the market is quite small and lightweight too. This means that you can take it out more often since the main issue with the DSLR cameras is the overall weight.

Along with the compactness, the build quality of the camera is good too. Its mainly plastic with a decent amount of leather covering providing a grip for better hold. Other than that the camera body also has buttons and rotatory dial that are easy to locate.

The camera also comes with a 3-inch touch LCD that articulates. Ever since the users have started recording vlogs an articulating display has become a must. It helps you see what the camera is capturing in real-time.

This touch screen could be also be used to set up focus manually by simply touching on the object where you want the focus to be. It can also be used to play with the settings, and basically do everything you do with buttons.

For wireless connectivity, T7i offers quite options. You get built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Using any of the connectivity options you can transfer files directly from the camera to your mobile phone/ laptop/tablet.

Talking about the picture quality and autofocus, you won’t be disappointed at all. The 24.2 MP CMOS sensor combined with a 45 point cross-type autofocus does absolute magic. Dual pixel autofocus is new in Rebel series but has already been featured in high-end cameras like EOS 80D, 70D, etc, and is one the greatest autofocus technology.

The camera can record up to 1080P videos at 60fps with great color accuracy. Unfortunately, we don’t get to see 4K video recording in this one too but that’s ok since we are already getting too much at this price point. It was actually very surprising to see canon including its Dual Pixel AF technology in its lower segment DSLR cameras.

You can get up to 6 frames per second while shooting in a burst which is more than enough for anyone who is looking to record fast-action sports or some wildlife too. Autofocus also works quite fine.

The only issue that we felt this camera is the missing headphone jack. A headphone jack is really helpful when it comes to monitoring the audio. We hope Canon adds this option in the next upgrade.

Pros

  • Amazing live object tracking with Dual Pixel AF.
  • Fully articulating display.
  • Smaller in size as compared to other DSLRs.
  • Records great slow-mo shots.

Cons

  • No headphone Jack.

Conclusion:

For those who want a light weight DSLR camera, this should be your choice. Apart from form factor and weight, the camera also does an excellent job technically. Additionaly coming with Dual pixel AF, you can expect an amazing autofocus experience that you won’t get to see any ordinary camera.

4. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV – Most Powerful DSLR

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Full Frame Digital SLR Camera with EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens Kit This is an ultra-premium high-end camera from Canon’s Mark Series.

We only recommend buying this camera to those who are highly professionals and want to take their work to a whole new level.

Although the camera is very expensive, the videos and pictures it produces are super awesome.

Specifications
  • 30.4MP CMOS Sensor.
  • Dual Pixel Auto Focus.
  • 61 Point Autofocus system.
  • 7.0fps at burst mode.
  • 1080p and 4K video recording.
  • Intelligent Viewfinder.

Our In-Depth Review:

Starting Off with the body of the camera, its well built and heavy. The body is built up of sturdy plastic with leather covering on some parts for better handling. The body has all the usual controls that you get to see in any Canon camera. So if you are coming from any Canon camera, you won’t even have to look at the manual.

The camera offers 7fps at continuous shooting which would be more than enough for any fast-action sports or wildlife, but for the price that we are paying for this camera, we could have got better fps in the burst mode. Some of the cameras on this list like Canon G7X Mark II offer 8fps at continuous shooting and come at a much lower price.

The 5D Mark IV comes with a 30.4 MP Full-frame CMOS sensor that helps you record 1080p FHD videos at 60fps and 4K videos at 30fps or 24fps. At 30fps the camera records DCI standard 4K video. The 1080P videos that the camera produces are amazingly color accurate with perfect saturation.

Talking about the best feature of the 5D Mark IV, the Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus. Well this was not our first-time trying the DuAl Pixel AF, we have already used it in Canon EOS 80D, 70D, and Rebel T7i, and we are a big fan of that. Dual Pixel AF makes the focus tracking smoothly while creating movies or taking stills. It is canon’s in-house technology that helps in capturing and retaining the focus even when the subject is moving.

The camera also has 61 AF points that are well spread across the sensor and detects the objects seamlessly. Along with that you also get 41 all cross-type AF points for even better performance.

The one thing that might hurt some of the users is the LCD display of the camera. Although it’s touchscreen display is one of the best displays we have ever seen, it doesn’t articulate. Now depending upon how you are going to use this camera this could be disappointing. Looking at the weight of the camera, we are pretty sure that you won’t use it for vlogging, so the fixed display shouldn’t be much of an issue.

For wireless seamless file transfer, the camera comes with both Wi-Fi and NFC. You can also download the Canon connect mobile app to directly upload the files to your social media sites. Along with this, the camera also comes with GPS installed so that you can automatically tag the image with location data.

Last but not least, the camera performs perfectly in low-lighting conditions. With ISO expandable up to 102400, you will get perfect shots even in the darkest of places.

Pros

  • 4K video recording at 30fps.
  • Intelligent viewfinder with various camera settings.
  • Great Autofocus technology.
  • Wide dynamic range.

Cons

  • Pricey.
  • Non-articulating display.

Conclusion:

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is a holy grain of DSLR cameras. It comes with great autofocus system, records excellent videos at upto 4K, and offers an excellent low light performance. But its quite pricey, and we only recommend this to the professionals who are already making good money with their profession.

5. Canon EOS Rebel T6 – Best DSLR for Beginners

Canon EOS Rebel T6 Digital SLR Camera Kit with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens (Black) EOS Rebel T6 for us is the best DSLR for beginners.

It is a very affordable and popular camera that comes with an APS C image sensor.

The camera comes with nothing special feature, but for beginners or for someone who is getting a camera for their personal use, this camera would suffice.

Specifications
  • 9 AF points with one of them being the cross point at the center.
  • 18.0 MP CMOS APS C Sensor.
  • Expandable ISO up to 12800.
  • NFC and Wi-Fi for wireless sharing.
  • 1080p FHD bright videos.

Our In-Depth Review:

If you are someone who is just trying to get a camera to capture family moments, or to shoot some quality pictures during your vacation, or if you are someone who wants to be a professional photographer or videographer in future, but don’t have any experience with the cameras, then Rebel T6 could come as both handy and affordable for you.

Although the camera records excellent 1080P videos, we still won’t recommend it to professionals, and that’s because the camera does not have an external microphone jack. Although the internal microphone is great and picks up the voices really well, the professional would surely feel the need to attach an external microphone.

Coming to the body and build of the camera, it is solid. Build quality is standard as you get to see in any other DSLR camera, but the weight is on the heavier side. Weighing at around 2.8lbs, you might find a bit heavy carrying for too long. The camera is certainly not suitable for vlogging.

For image processing, the Rebel T6 uses Digic 4 processor. The latest Digic processor running in the market currently is Digic 8 which could be found in the M50 Mirrorless camera. Now Digic 4 might be old but it is capable enough to do all the basic tasks you would do with the camera.

The camera offers 3fps at burst mode which is smoothly handled by the Digic 4 processor. Now if you have already done the research, 3fps at burst/continuous shooting would seem low, but looking at the price point of the camera, its acceptable. Moreover, 3fps is still good enough to shoot light action shots. However, shooting fast-action sports or wildlife won’t produce the best results.

Connectivity is pretty standard as compared to other canon cameras. You get both Bluetooth and NFC for fast wireless sharing of content to your other devices. The Rebel T6 also supports connectivity to Canon connect app.

Last but not least, How is the picture, video quality and Auto Focus on Rebel T6?

Well, with its 18 MP image sensor, the camera is capable of recording FHD 1080P videos at 30fps. Now, this could be disappointing for some people who are looking to get atleast 60fps but trust us 30 fps is good too. The videos are crisp, clear and bright. Even in low lighting conditions, shots come out as pretty decent.

Autofocus, on the other hand, is decent. Don’t accept anything exceptional from 9 AF points, although its very fast and precise. You get two options for focus: automatic and manual so that you switch forth and between. We really wish the camera to have to touch screen LCD so that setting the manual focus would have been easy.

Pros

  • Perfect for beginners and users who are low on budget.
  • APS-C image sensor.
  • Accurate viewfinder.
  • FHD videos at 30fps.

Cons

  • No option to connect an external microphone.

Conclusion:

Canon rebel t6 is one of the most affordable DSLR camers that you can get. The 1080P videos recorded are great with accurate colors and saturation. You can never go wrong with this one. For the price that you are paying, you are getting alot of value.

6. Canon EOS 7D Mark II – With Excellent Burst Shooting

Canon EOS 7D Mark II Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) Canon Eos 7D Mark II is a very powerful camera.

Although its not as powerful as EOS 5D Mark IV since it doesn’t offer 4K video recording, still it produces excellent videos and comes with some amazing features.

The best thing about this camera is the Autofocus. With 65-points all cross-type autofocus, we think this camera has one of the best autofocus in the DSLR category.

Specifications
  • 20.2 MP CMOS Sesnor.
  • 10 fps at burst mode.
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF.
  • Supports Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Intelligent viewfinder 2.
  • 1080P recording at 60fps.

Our In-Depth Review:

Even though the best feature about this camera is the autofocus system, that’s not our favorite part though.

The thing that we personally love the most about the 7D Mark II is its capability to shoot in burst mode. The camera is capable of shooting 10 fps during continuous shooting which is absolutely insane. This makes it the best camera for those who are looking to record some really fast action videos or Wildlife shots.

In our experience, with 10fps, you would not face any kind of issue while capturing any kind of fast action scenes. Before we tested this we had used cameras up to 8.2fps and never faced any issues. With 10fps the things surely went to a different level.
The one thing that disappointed us was the image processor on this camera. It comes with a Digic 6 image processor which is definitely fast, but not one of the latest in the industry. The addition of atleast Digic 7 processor would have made this camera an even better deal.

Talking about the body of the camera, its not lightweight. A body weighing at around 2.01 lbs with the weight of the lens on top would surely make you feel a considerable amount of weight in the hand. But again, this is the standard weight of any DSLR camera.

The camera comes with a 20.2 MP CMOS sensor that is capable of recording videos up to 1080P at 60fps. We really wish that the camera had a 4K recording option, but since the price is not too high, that is pretty acceptable.

Getting back to the feature that would be loved most by the users, 65 points all cross-type AF system. The coverage of the AF points could be expanded when recording fast-moving objects. You can also use the Spot AF single point setting to focus closely on just one subject.

On top of that, you also get Dual Pixel AF that helps in shooting moving objects with fast focus. If you have never used Dual pixel focus before, you will be simply amazed to see how smoothly it transitions the focus on a fast-moving object.

Pros

  • Movie Servo AF.
  • Excellent Autofocus system.
  • Insane performance in burst mode.
  • 7.5X optical zoom.

Cons

  • No 4K.
  • Wi-Fi is not built-in.

Conclusion:

Well if you love Autofocus, then don’t think twice before buying EOS 7D Mark II. The video quality is fantatsic and you get so much control over the AF system. Yes the camera doesn’t support 4K video recording, but thats ok since the 1080P video is great.

7. Canon EOS 80D – Used by Top Youtubers

Canon Digital SLR Camera Body [EOS 80D] with 24.2 Megapixel (APS-C) CMOS Sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF - Black Canon EOS 80D has been one of the most widely used cameras by Top Youtubers in the industry.

And the best part is that its not too expensive.

Yes, the price tag could be said as expensive, but in our opinion, it offers immense value for the price you pay.

It was one of the first cameras we tested that came with Dual Pixel CMOS AF.

Specifications
  • 24.2 MP APS C sensor.
  • 45 Points all cross type AF system.
  • 7fps in burst mode.
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Focus raking.
  • Canon connects app support.

Our In-Depth Review:

Even though the Canon EOS 80D is an amazing camera that is much loved by professionals, we still think that a lot of upgrades have been bought forward by Canon since the launch of the Camera, and its high time for the company upgrade this legendary camera

The EOS 80D still runs on Digic 6 image processor while Digic 8 is already out in the market.

The weight of the EOS 80D is quite lighter as compared to some other DSLR cameras. Weighing at around 1.4lbs you will feel a significant difference while holding it.

The 24.2 MP APS C sensor is capable of recording 1080P HD videos at up to 60 frames per second. The video quality is impressive, the colors pop-ups perfectly, and with Digic 6 processor everything happens quickly. It would have been really great to see Canon add 4K tech into this, but unfortunately, they didn’t, and that’s probably the only thing anyone can ever miss in this camera.

The camera is also capable of taking burst photos as 7fps which is pretty decent.

Before we got our hands on the 80D, we already had reviewed 70D before, and trust us, our experience with 70D was super awesome. We were highly impressed with its autofocus system, and we really thought that we won’t see anything better in that price range.

But them comes the EOS 80D.

EOS 80D comes with 45 points all cross-type Af system, and then for the live view, we have Dual Pixel Cmos AF, and then we also have Focus Racking. Focus Racking for those who don’t know is the technology where you can shift focus from one object to another during live video recording.

45 point Af system on EOD 80D is amazing. The points are perfectly spread across the frame and identify objects very well. You can at anytime switch from Automatic focus to manual focus and setup focus by touching on the display.

Talking about the display, you get a 3 inch Articulating LCD that is very helpful for monitoring the videos.

If you have been reading the review for the cameras listed above, you would know about the DPAF. DPAF(Dual Pixel Autofocus) is the Canon’s in-house technology that helps in maintaining precise focus while recording fast-action videos. DPAF is so quick and accurate and then you won’t notice focus drop.

Pros

  • 7fps in continuous shooting.
  • Amazingly fast and accurate autofocus.
  • Intelligent viewfinder.
  • 3.0 inch articulating LCD.

Cons

  • No 4K.

Conclusion:

Canon EOS 80D is undoubtly a great camera. Good build quality, ergonomic grip and what not. But if you have decided to go for it, we would highly recommend you to compare it head to head with Eos 7D mark II since both of them come at a similar price point and have quite similar features.

8. Canon EOS 77D – With Anti Flicker Technology

Canon EOS 77D EF-S 18-55 IS STM Kit EOS 77D is an advanced DSLR camera that comes with a lot of features that other DSLR cameras don’t have.

If you are wondering if this camera has dual pixel AF, then yes it does have DPAF integrated into it.

It comes with an RG+IR metering sensor that helps in achieving accurate exposure.

Specifications
  • 24.2  APS C sensor.
  • Vary angle touch LCD.
  • Digic 7 image processor.
  • Anti-flicker shooting.
  • 6fps in burst mode.

Our In-Depth Review:

The EOS 77D comes with all the wireless connectivity options. You can either use Wi-Fi to connect it to your device to share the files seamlessly, or you can just tap and connect using NFC with a compatible device. You can also use Bluetooth to pair the camera to the Canon connect app2, from where you can control the various functionalities of the camera and can also use the mobile screen as a viewfinder.

Talking about the aesthetics of the camera, you would be surprised to feel its overall weight, although the design is very much similar to any other Canon DSLR. Weighing at just 1.2 lbs the camera is actually lighter the EOS 80D.

For processing the camera uses Digic 7 image processor, this allows fast processing even in low-lighting conditions. Overall the Digic 7 processor makes sure that the pictures and videos you shoot look lifelike with minimal unwanted noise.

With a 24.2 MP CMOS sensor in 77D, you can capture 1080p videos at up to 60fps. The videos and still taken are clear, detailed, with rich and vibrant colors. Apart from that, the camera also comes with RGB+IR metering sensor that helps you set accurate exposure, and also identifies the skin tone and sets the focus accordingly.

The shooting in burst mode is decent on this camera. You can get up to 6fps in the continuous shooting which as per our experience would be perfect for recording fast-action sports and some wildlife too.

Along with everything, the 77D also features an anti-flicker shooting system that automatically adjusts flickering light sources and takes shots as close to the highest light volume.

Getting into the most important aspect, the Autofocus. The EOS 77D comes with Dual Pixel Autofocus that does an excellent job in recording fast action shots. It automatically adjusts the focus on a moving object in a perfectly precise way.

Pros

  • Dual Pixel AF.
  • Excellent low-lighting shots.
  • Anti-flicker technology.
  • Lightweight overall.

Cons

  • No Cons.

Conclusion:

77D is an another great option you can have a look at. It come with some of the exclusive feature like anti flicker system that we didn’t got to see in any other cameras.

9. Canon EOS M50 – With Best Image Procesesor

Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Camera Kit w/EF-M15-45mm and 4K Video - Black EOS M50 is one of the most popular mirrorless cameras from Canon.

It comes with all the high-end features that a professional photographer/videographer craves for, including the capability to record 4K UHD videos.

The best thing about this mirrorless camera is that it comes with Digic 8 image processor.

Specifications
  • 24.2 MP APS C Sensor.
  • 4K UHD video recording.
  • Dual Pixel AF.
  • Vary angle touchscreen LCD.
  • Automatic image transfer.

Our In-Depth Review:

EOS M50 is a holy grain of Mirrorless camera. It comes at a very good price with all the excellent features we usually want to have.

4K, DPAF, all the features are surely a great addition to this camera, but the feature that we were most excited about was the Digic 8 image processor.

The Digic 8 image processor is the latest processor from canon that is amazingly fast. Canon is planning to launch the all-new Digic 9 soon, but as of writing this review, Digic 8 is the latest one in the market. In fact, the EOS M50 was the first camera to come with Digic 8 processor.

As compared to previous gens, Digic 8 can also process 4K videos at 25fps using H.264 compression. Other than that it also helps in fast focusing, taking beautiful pictures at fast ISO speeds, and makes overall content processing faster.

Talking about the aesthetics, since it is a mirrorless camera its quite compact and lightweight as compared to any DSLR camera. Weighing at just around 0.86lbs, the camera is super easy to handle. The controls are usually as you get to see in any Canon DSLR cameras, so you won’t face any difficulties using them.

The 24.2 MP sensor helps you capture 1080p FHD videos at 60 FPS, 720p super slow-mo videos at up to 120 fps, and 4K UHD videos at 24fps. Now for those who wanted to have 4K in a compact and mid-budget range camera, this would come as a treat for them. The videos and pictures shot in all the formats are vibrant and detailed.

Talking about the focus system on EOS M50 you get a lot of options. First of all, it comes with Canon’s in-house Dual Pixel AF, then we also have AF tracking and Eye detection AF.

First of all Dual Pixel AF in itself is a very brilliant feature. It automatically tracks the moving objects in a live video and maintains a precise focus on it. Eye detection AF over here analyzes the image and locks focus on eyes for better portraits.

With EOS M50 you can wirelessly transfer the files to your other devices over Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. You can also automate this process by downloading the canon image transfer utility app on your desktop and then connecting the camera and the computer to the same Wi-Fi network.

Pros

  • Compact and lightweight.
  • Vibrant colors reproduction.
  • 120 fps super slow in 720P.
  • 4K at a good price point.

Cons

  • No headphone jack.

Conclusion:

If you are trying to get a mirrorless camera, then you must consider the M50 from canon. It comes with all the top of the line features at a decent price point. Yes there are surely few issues like no headphone jack, but overall the camera has alot to offer.

10. Canon EOS R – Best Mirrorless Canon Camera

Canon EOS R Mirrorless Camera with RF 24-105mm F/4L is USM Lens EOS R is another mirrorless camera that comes with a Digic 8 processor.

This is an expensive full-frame CMOS camera that comes with some amazing autofocus.

We highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking forward to recording some really fast-action sports or wildlife. Read full review for Canon EOS R

Specifications
  • Digic 8 processor.
  • 30.3 MP Full frame CMOS.
  • 4K at 30p and 1080P at 60fps.
  • Amazing low light AF.

Our In-Depth Review:

Although this is a mirrorless camera, its weight is kind of heavy as compared to any normal mirrorless or even a DSLR camera. Weighing at around 3.09 lbs, we surely recommend everyone to get a good quality gimbal along with the camera. That would make holding the camera much convenient.

Now let’s talk about the thing that is super good about this camera, the focus. First of all the camera offers a huge focus area. On top of that, it offers both the Autofocus system and the Manual focus system. With autofocus, you get staggering 143 AF points that are spread across the whole area.

This was our first time using an autofocus system with 143 AF points, and we found it to be excellent. In manual focus mode with Dual Pixel AF, you get a maximum of 5655 manually selectable AF points. The focus is pretty quick and accurate, and the DPAF is actually better than any camera that we have tested.

The reason why we said that the camera is highly suitable for wildlife photographer/videographer is because of its autofocus technology. In a live recording mode, the autofocus is highly precise. Shooting a flying eagle or running leopard, EOS R would maintain focus on everything just perfectly.

The other good thing about the focus is that it performs perfectly at night too. The Autofocus in EOS R can operate in light as dim as EV-6. AF system in most of the camera fails when it comes to low lighting, fortunately, that’s not the case with EOS R.

The 30.3 MP full-frame sensor along with the very latest Digic 8 image processor delivers fast and impressive performance. The camera can record Full HD 1080P videos at up to 60 frames per second, and 4K videos at up to 30 frames per second. The video could be directly monitored from the vary angle LCD and dot-matrix LCD panel.

Pros

  • Excellent Autofocus even in low light.
  • 4K at 30 fps.
  • Mount adapter that expands lenses compatibility.
  • 143 AF points.

Cons

  • Heavy.

Conclusion:

It might not be as powerful as 5D mark II, but it surely has better focus system than that. Specially talking about the auto focus in low-lighting, its brilliant. Although the camera is bit heavy, you can manage that with a gimbal or a tripod stand.

Canon Cameras – Buyer’s Guide

Canon cameraFirst of all, we would like to congratulate you on making the decision for going with a canon camera.

Canon is probably one of the best in the camera business.

But that also doesn’t mean other brands are not good.

Brands like Nikon and Panasonic are known for producing excellent cameras. Nikon D7200 and Panasonic Lumix Fz80 are two of our favorite cameras.

Types of Canon Cameras:

DSLR CamerasMirrorless CamerasPoint and Shoot Cameras
DSLR cameras looks very much similar to 35mm cameras from the past.

There is a mirror placed inside the camera that reflects the light coming through the lens to a prism from where it goes to the viewfinder. As soon as you click the button, a shutter opens, the mirror flips up, and the light falls on the image sensor and the picture is clicked.

In case of mirrorless cameras, the light passes from the lens directly into the image sensor, from there it is displayed on the LCD screen, and you can just click to take the shot.

Point and shoot cameras are very compact and lightweight. you don’t get much control over the settings, which is why they are perfect for beginners.

But now in recent times, point and shoot cameras have been upgraded. Now you get much control over the settings. Canon Powershot G7X is a perfect example of upgraded point and shoot cameras.

DSLR V/S Mirrorless Cameras

canon camera placed on tableThere is a very common assumption that DSLR cameras are better than Mirrorless cameras, specifically when it comes to autofocus.

While they may have been true a few years back, ever since some of the great cameras like Sony A7rii and Canon EOS R are launched into the market, this myth has been busted.

Nowadays the mirrorless cameras an equally as powerful as a DSLR camera and in some cases even better.

Talking about size, DSLR cameras are quite larger and heavier as compared to Mirrorless cameras since they have to fit mirror and prism inside the body. A mirrorless camera is much lighter and smaller as compared to DSLR cameras making them easy to carry.

When it comes to previewing images, DSLRs come with a viewfinder from where you can see the live view of what you are capturing, Mirrorless cameras, on the other hand, get the preview of the image on the screen. Some of the mirrorless cameras do come with an electronic viewfinder that works as an optical viewfinder in DSLR.

The electronic viewfinder works great in daylight, but in low light or when capturing fast-moving objects, the visuals start flickering. A viewfinder on DSLR, on the other hand, is good at day-light too.

Talking about video quality, mirrorless cameras have become equally good as DSLR cameras. Most of the high-end mirrorless cameras are capable of recording 4K UHD videos which are 4x of an HD video. If you are especially looking to buy a camera for recording videos then go for a mirrorless camera.

Battery life on both types is of the same standard. DSLR cameras could last long if the user doesn’t use the LCD for previewing the shots and instead use the optical viewfinder. In the case of Mirrorless camera, since the viewfinder is also electronic the battery would ultimately drain. However, since both the DSLR and Mirrorless users are highly fond of using LCD for previewing, the battery on both of them lasts just the same.

Talking about the lens compatibility on both the types, mirrorless cameras are quite restricted, which means you can only use a number of lenses from the other camera manufacturer. DSLR cameras, on the other hand, support a lot of lenses from many manufacturers.

The good thing is that some of the cameras like Canon EOS R comes with a mount adapter that extends its compatibility with other lenses.

Ultimately we would say that mirrorless cameras are a revolution. They are as powerful as DSLR cameras and are also lightweight and compact at the same time. But there is surely some restriction in terms of using different lenses.

Identifying your needs

video playback on the canon cameraBefore you set out to buy a Canon camera, you must identify your needs.

Are you just looking to get a camera to take family pictures on vacation?

Or are you trying to become a professional photographer?

Or are you trying to become a professional Youtuber?

If you are trying to be a Youtuber, then are you going to be a Vlogger?

These are a few of the questions you need to ask yourself.

If you are trying to get a camera for taking casual photos, we would recommend you to go with a low-budget DSLR camera. Canon EOS Rebel T6 is a good example of such a camera.

Getting a high-end camera, in this case, would not be the best thing to do. First of all, you will face quite difficulties in operating the high-end camera, and then it would be quite expensive too.

For those who are trying to be a professional photographer, for them, the best camera on our list is 5D Mark IV. The second-best camera for a photographer would be 7D Mark II. it is also quite cheaper as compared to 5D Mark IV.

For those who are specifically buying a Canon camera for recording videos, for them, there could be nothing better than the Canon EOS R. It is one of the latest Mirrorless cameras from Canon that offers a lot of controls. EOS M50 is also a very popular camera when it comes to recording videos.

For vloggers, our only recommendation would be Canon Powershot G7X Mark II.

Do you need 4k?

person holding a canon camera. Not all great cameras in the market come with 4K technology, and that makes it hard to choose a good 4K camera.

But before we talk about that, let’s see if you actually need a 4K camera.

If you are a professional photographer or a videographer then 4K technology could be a good tech for you.

If you are just a Youtuber, then you probably don’t need it because of the majority of the audience on youtube streams videos not above 1080P. However, if you just want to offer more streaming options to your viewers then go ahead.

For professional videographers who usually record events and functions should surely get a 4K camera. Now, 4K is not a must to have, but every client has a different demand.

You can also take out some beautiful 4K snapshots from a 4K UHD video.

Camera Accessories you should get

Camera BagExternal SSDMemory cardsMemory Card ReaderExtra batteriesSensor CleanerRemoteTripodCamera StrapMemory Card HolderPowerbankGimbal
Bag is one of the most important accessories you need. It should be the first accessory you buy.

And yes, you can’t use your regular backup to carry your camera and lenses.

Bags designed especially for camera carrying have padded small compartments inside that can save your camera and lenses from any shock.

These bags also have enough space to carry the extra batteries, charger, memory card reader and other small accessories.

Talking about the type of bags, we highly recommend everyone to go with the sling bag, that way you can easily have everything hanging at the side. With backup, you have to take it off every time you want to takeout something.

Every time you take a good shot or just record something important, take a backup of that content in an external drive.

One of our team members once took good shots on a fine day, while coming back someone just hit his trunk from the back and the camera was completely destroyed.

Guess what? he didn’t have any backups for those shots. He was completely relying on memory cards.

Until recent times we all were using HDD, which was working good, but then SSD came.

SSD on average is 4x-5x faster as compared to HDD but is also quite expensive. In our experience, the price of the SSD is atleast 3X to that of HDD.

If you have SSD on your desktop or your laptop, you must have experienced the speed of the SSD.

Shooting HQ photographs and videos would quickly eat up your memory.

So you must carry atleast one memory card with you.

If you into event recording then you will probably need multiple memory cards or a memory card with a higher storage limit.

We would advise you to get atleast an extra 32GB memory card.

The storage is not the only thing you should look for, read and write speed are important too.

Transferring files from your camera to the PC could be a very slow task.

With a memory card reader in hand, you can make that task much faster.

This makes the memory card reader one of the most important camera accessories.

But make sure you are buying a memory card reader that has multiple slots for all kind of memory cards./su_tab] You must always keep your lens clean to take better shots, that’s pretty obvious.

Just get any microfiber cleaning cloth and you would be fine.

Since the microfiber cleaning cloth is anti-static in nature, they keep the dust away.

Every Camera owner, professional or non-professional must keep at least on extra battery fully charged with them.

Look, camera batteries don’t last long which makes them unreliable.

The image you are about to take a great shot, and BAM! your battery dies.

An extra battery could extend your camera usage by 3-4 hours.

For all the dust-related sensor problems, you can safely use a sensor cleaner.

Most of the sensor cleaners are rocket-shaped, using which you can blow the air inside the camera and get rid of any dust particles.

However, if you feel like the problem is more than just dust, take professional help.

People think the main use of remote is to take selfies.

But its actual use to minimize the shaking, and thus making sure the shots come out perfect.

Even if the camera is well placed on the tripod, there is still some chance for the movement.

And when you are taking a long exposure photo, even the slightest moment can make the image less sharp.

There are both wired and wireless remotes available in the market.

Tripod are must for taking stills.

They carry the overall weight of the camera on themselves and you have to just click the shutter.

But you need to be very careful while choosing a tripod.

A tripod must be heavy, sturdy, and should be able to hold the weight of the camera.

If the tripod is weak, you might cause a lot of damage to your camera.

You need to have a sturdy and comfortable camera strap in your life.

As a photographer most of the time your camera would be out of the bag.

And you just can’t hold it all the time.

A comfortable camera strap will allow you to hang the camera around your neck and use it conveniently when needed.

This is only recommended if you have multiple memory cards.

A memory card holder helps you in keeping the memory cards safe and organized.

A power bank might not be able to recharge your DSLR camera, but it could easily charge your mobile phone, tablets, and even point and shoot cameras in few cases.
Gimbal is basically a stabilization system that prevents the shaking of the camera.

it is highly useful when you are out recording a video.

An inertial measurement unit automatically detects the movement and utilizes the motors to stabilize the camera.

Features to look for

AutofocusViewfinderLCDlow-lighting shots4K TechDual Pixel AF
Be it the camera in a mobile phone, or a standalone camera, everyone today looks for good autofocus.

And that’s because pictures and videos with autofocus look really good.

In DSLR and Mirrorless cameras the quality of autofocus depends on the number of auto points the camera has.

Some cameras come with 9 AF points, some come with 40, and some high-end cameras come with 100+ AF points.

Viewfinder is basically that small peek-in portion at the upper right corner of the camera.

DSLR camera usually comes with an optical viewfinder that does not drain the battery at all.

Mirrorless cameras instead of an optical viewfinder, uses an LCD display for previewing or offer an electronic viewfinder. This electronic viewfinder runs on the battery of the camera.

Talking about how good the image previewing is on both the types, its same. Moreover, most of the users today do the previewing directly on the LCD display.

Most of the cameras that we have tested, be it point & shoot, mirrorless or DSLR usually come with a 3 inch LCD display.

Most of the displays are of the same quality since there is not a lot of room to play in. Most of the LCDs are also a touchscreen.

The only thing that you need to see is if the LCD is articulation, fixed or vary angle.

Articulating or Vary angle LCD could be moved to match your face angle, which makes the previewing much easier, doesn’t matter what angle you are taking the shot.

You can’t do that with a fixed display. Some of the high-end cameras still, come with a fixed display.

All of the cameras that are featured over here performs well in low-lighting too.

But not all cameras are capable of doing that.

The only thing you need to check is the capability of the camera to extends ISO settings.

How good shots a camera can take in low-light depends on its ISO settings. Some camera also comes with so good ISO settings that allow you to click decent pictures in the pitch dark.

Some of the recent cameras like Canon EOS R can also maintain excellent focus in low -light.

We said this last year too, and we are going to say it again.

Buying a camera with 4K tech is strictly personal.

Until and unless you are a highly professional photographer, and you have actual demand for 4K videos in your industry, you shouldn’t look for 4K.

Like the audience on Youtube that streams on 4K are still not significant.

But if you are futuristic, and you are buying a camera for atleast a couple of years, by all means, go ahead and pick a camera that has 4K too.

DPAF (Dual Pixel Auto Focus) is Canon’s in-house technology that offers precise focus while live recording fast action scenes.

DPAF is extremely fast when it comes to shifting focus on fast-moving objects.

Previously the technology was available on high-end Canon cameras, but ever since it has been introduced in Rebel series, it ha become relatively affordable to use that.
